Positioned For the Flood

 

As I was praying last night, I spoke these words, “God, You’re positioning us for the harvest…” and in my mind, I went back to years ago when He said, “like a flood.” This “positioning” was fresh revelation for me. And the deeper I dug into it, the more my discouragement faded - and the more excitement stirred in my spirit.

Flood.  Harvest.  Positioning.

I decided to dig into "positioning" and what it looks like from a Biblical standpoint.

We can see that God moved His people into position before major moves of His Spirit. 

• Joseph was unjustly imprisoned but perfectly placed to interpret Pharaoh’s dream and save a nation.
•  Esther…. torn from her comfort and placed in a palace for “such a time as this.”
• Moses?  He was removed from his family and raised in Pharaoh’s house but chosen to deliver God’s people.
• Deborah, the only female judge of Israel, leading the nation to victory.
• Gideon?! He went from hiding in fear to leading 300 men against a massive army!
• How about Jesus?  The ULTIMATE positioning!  He humbled Himself and was exalted above all!

I know this list is FAR from complete!

Positioning is alignment.  It’s strategic placement.  I would have to say that it’s not just about readiness – but being where you need to be when you need to be there, AND with the right heart posture.  

It’s about spiritual pruning, equipping, and the stripping away of old things.  Things like mindsets, routines, and comforts that can’t survive the coming flood.

Prophetically speaking, it could be suggesting that He’s shifting things, to get us ready, like ...

• relationally (disconnecting what can’t go with you)
• geographically (moving or calling you out of your routine)
• spiritually (calling you to go even deeper in Him)
• mentally (stripping off old thinking).

I'm sure you could add some more examples!

I am going to step out and say with confidence that positioning is anything BUT passive.  It comes with PRESSURE because He’s positioning us for IMPACT. 

It’s preparation.  Preparation for what though?  

He said the “harvest”.  We know that the harvest points to a massive move of deliverance…. SOULS.  He’s mentioned that several times in interpretations.  They ARE coming!  His word even backs that up!

A massive INFLOW of broken, lost, and hungry people are coming to Jesus!

I’m sorry, but I truly feel that the harvest will be MESSY!  Massive…. messy……but MIRACULOUS!  When He said the harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few, He was issuing a CALL TO ARMS.  And He never once said they would come quietly.  Go back to Acts, in the upper room.  I think we ALL know it was anything but a quiet event.  It sounded like a RUSHING and MIGHTY wind! It shook the house!

SUDDEN!  SURGING!  SUPERNATURAL!

The flood that’s coming is going to overwhelm UNPREPARED structures.  “Old wineskins” would never be able to hold this kind of outpouring!! 

He’s POSITIONING US!!

He’s PREPARING US!!

We don’t need a bigger building (YET!) we need bigger hearts, trained hands, open homes, and healed leadership!  Because the harvest is not going to wait for us to get around to it, it’s coming….and it’s RUSHING IN LIKE A FLOOD!

Positioning requires obedience!  It requires trust.  Abraham was told to go to a land God would show him.  He had no map, no GPS, he had NO CLUE.  HE TRUSTED.

After a full night of failing to catch anything, Peter was told to cast his net on the other side.  HE TRUSTED.

And Philip on the desert road to meet the eunuch with a hungry heart?

They weren’t JUST available.  They were PLIABLE! They didn’t say “yes” because they had all of the details.  They said “yes” because of the One positioning them!

Exciting, isn’t it!?

My fingers just want to keep typing away because this excites me SO much! 

And I apologize, I haven’t even sat down and carefully laid this out so it flows well.  I didn’t want to lose my train of thought!

This positioning isn’t JUST for US though.  It’s not just for our breakthrough.  He’s positioning us to be doorways for others!  It’s about a KINGDOM ASSIGNMENT that ripples out from our obedience!

WE ARE FIRST RESPONDERS IN A SPIRITUAL FLOOD!  We can’t despise the positioning. We can’t resist this stretching and we absolutely CANNOT underestimate this season.
