All Authority
Philippians 2:9-10 says, Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…
There are some things in life that can get so big in front of us that they almost start to feel bigger than God. We know better than that, but if we’re not careful, the thing we’re facing starts taking up more space in our mind than the One we’re praying to.
The fear feels big. The diagnosis feels big. The family situation feels big. And after a while, we can start talking more about the problem than we do about the One who has authority over it. But the Bible says He has been given a name which is above every name. That means….if it has a name...His Name is still higher.
If it’s called cancer, His Name is higher.
If it’s called depression, His name is higher.
If it’s called fear, His Name is higher.
If it’s called addiction, His Name is higher.
If it’s called dysfunction, bondage, confusion, grief, or impossibility...His Name is still higher.
There is absolutely NOTHING that you walked in here carrying today that suddenly became greater than Jesus. Nothing caught Him off guard, backed Him into a corner, or made Him nervous. And NOTHING has taken His authority away. There are times when we just need to remind ourselves of that.
The enemy would love for us to look at what’s happening and decide that THIS must be the one thing God can’t handle.
But you know what? there is no “one thing.” There’s no exception! There’s no situation that sits outside His authority.
Jesus is still Jesus. His Name still carries power and His Word still stands. And if Jesus said it, you can stand on it. His Word doesn’t become less true because your situation hasn’t changed yet. Delay doesn’t cancel what He said. Opposition doesn’t overrule what He said. What He’s spoken is still sure. His promises haven’t changed. And He’s still greater than whatever is standing in front of you.
I don't know about you, but I'M not going to let the size of my problem dictate the size of my worship. I am not going to let what I see become greater than what I know.
And what I know is this......
There is a Name above every battle. There’s a Name above everything that’s tried to convince you it has the final word.
There’s a Name above what you can see. There’s a Name above what you can’t fix. There’s a Name above what you don’t understand. And there’s a Name above what you’ve been carrying for far too long.
There’s a Name above it ALL. And that Name…..is Jesus.
