The Black Predators - A Dream
I wish I had kept detailed writings of my dreams throughout the years. The bears, bobcats, and the theme of people not hearing or heeding me has been a pattern for quite some time. If I’m not mistaken, though, this is the first dream where those who ignored my pleas actually died.
This dream also shows a variety of relationships. My loved ones, acquaintances, and even strangers were all present.
Another thing that stood out to me was the animals. All except the sloth (quiet, cute distraction) are quiet hunters. They stalk, they wait, and they are patient predators waiting to catch the careless and off guard. This is the first time the key animals were all shiny black. A black panther/leopard and a black bear aren’t unusual, but a black bobcat is not something you normally hear about. That detail made the animals feel uniform, and it really stuck out to me.
I dreamed that we were in Florida. I believe it was Florida because there was an ocean just outside our hotel room.
Everyone in the neighborhood was asleep, and I wanted to go walking on the beach with Justin. The girls were still inside the hotel room. When we stepped outside, I remember the shoreline glowing. Justin was giving me a hard time about it. He said the glowing was chemicals, but I laughed and told him, “Justin, it’s just algae!”
He said he wanted to have a cigarette first, so we walked out to our car in the parking lot.
It was the middle of the day now. The car was parked in the very back corner of the lot, and along the back edge, there was a wooded area. Justin was standing outside the car when we both noticed a beautiful fox standing there, just staring at us.
I said, “Oh, look! I want a picture,” and started trying to find my phone.
I was sitting in the backseat of the car, in the very center. There was someone else sitting in the car with me, but I don’t know who it was.
The next thing I know, Justin was standing in front of the car trying to coax a large sloth out of the woods. This sloth had white shaggy hair with black undertones. I wish I could remember what the hair reminded me of, but the sloth was about my height, so when I say large, I’m not exaggerating.
I said, “Well, I don’t care about the fox so much now, because look at THAT…”
Right behind the sloth was a shiny black panther or leopard. It was standing there, slowly moving side to side, eyes looking right through Justin, almost like it was waiting for access to my husband, like it was hunting him.
I was still in the car, in the back seat in the center.
I told the person in the car with me to roll up the window because there was also a black bobcat walking along the side of the car, trying to get at whoever was sitting next to me.
When I looked back toward the front of the vehicle, Justin had the sloth by the hand. He seemed completely oblivious to the panther/leopard behind it. I was yelling to him, “Justin! Get in the car! You’re going to get attacked!”
Then I noticed the back window was rolled down again. The person I had told to roll it up had rolled it up, but when I wasn’t paying attention, they rolled it back down again.
I looked over to my left and saw two adults and a child, maybe seven or eight years old, with dark hair. They were walking down a hill toward a set of bathrooms in the distance.
What had been the lawn to the hotel we were staying at now seemed like a campground. The bathrooms were like the typical cold brick buildings that many campgrounds have.
Even though I never saw them in the car with me, I knew those people had been in my vehicle and had gotten out to use the bathroom because they didn’t see any danger and they were tired of waiting.
As I watched them walking casually down the hill toward the bathroom, I began seeing animals running behind them. The animals were excited because they knew that once those people went into the bathroom, they were going to kill them and eat them.
One animal I distinctly remember running down the hill after them was a shiny black bear.
I was screaming, “Guys! Can’t you wait to go to the bathroom? It’s dangerous out there! Get back in the car!”
Then suddenly, I knew my husband was being attacked. I couldn’t see it happening, but I knew that’s what was going on.
I looked across the parking lot at a family having a picnic and screamed for help, hoping they would see how dangerous it was and get to safety. Nobody even flinched. They looked at me, then just kept doing what they were doing.
The scene changed.
I ended up back in the hotel room. My husband had been killed, and I was just learning that the people who went to the bathroom had been eaten.
Brooklyn and Tia were packing their bags.
I went into the next room to get dressed because I was still planning to go walking on the beach.
When I walked in, I saw Justin’s clothes lying there. They had been laid there with every intention of his coming back. I got sad as I looked at them and thought that.
His sweatpants were doubled up, and his socks were tucked at the end of them, like he had just taken them off and set them to the side.
I picked up his dirty sweatshirt and held it up to my nose to smell him.
Even though it was dirty, I decided I was going to wear it because I missed him.
