Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. No Restraint to the Lord

Israel is in a hard place. Their army has shrunk down to just about 600 men, and they hardly have any weapons left. The Philistines, on the other hand, are spread out everywhere with huge numbers. It looks hopeless.

But right in the middle of all this, Saul’s son Jonathan decides he’s not going to sit still and be afraid. He turns to his armor-bearer and says, “Come on… let’s go toward the enemy camp.” Not because they had a brilliant strategy, but because Jonathan believed something about God:

1 Samuel 14:6 says “And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.

Let me read that part again.... “There is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few."

Jonathan wasn’t trusting in the size of the army.
He wasn’t relying on the strength of their weapons.
He wasn’t waiting on better conditions.

He simply believed that God was able....
and he acted on that belief.

You know, we may look around and see a small congregation...we may feel like the odds are stacked, growth is slow, or that the promise seems far away.

But Heaven isn’t concerned with numbers.
Heaven is looking for faith.

Let me remind you of this.... God has never needed a crowd to release His power.
He shook Egypt with one Moses.
He brought down Goliath with one David.
He turned nations with one Deborah.
He thinned armies with one Gideon.
And right here in this chapter, He shook an entire Philistine camp with just two men who believed Him.

If He can save by many, He can save by few.
If He can move through thousands, He can move through (how many are here tonight?)
If He can start revival with one praying heart, He can start it in this house.

And church.....He has promised us a harvest.
He has spoken increase.
He has declared that this work will grow.
And even though we may feel small in number right now, we are NOT small in purpose.

So as we continue to worship tonight.... let our hearts boldly proclaim....

“Lord, we may be few,
but we are full of faith.
You have promised a harvest,
and we believe You.
Use us
to break ground,
to shift atmospheres,
to shake this city,
and to carry the coming revival.
Not because we are many,
but because You are God.”

We are enough today because HE is enough.

Let’s worship like Jonathan
boldly, confidently, expectantly
knowing there is no restraint to the Lord.
