Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. Is There Not a Cause?

So, everyone knows the story of David and Goliath, right? There's something that may have been missed by some.

David was asked to go bring cheese to the troops, and while he is there, he hears Goliath mocking them. So naturally, he speaks up and asks who in the world this guy thinks he is—disrespecting the very army that God has put together. Like… who does he think he is, talking that way about the armies of the living God?

His oldest brother (Eliab) ridiculed David and said that he was only there because he was prideful and nosy. Now, this brother witnessed when Samuel anointed David in the chapter before. He SAW the oil poured over him and he SAW the prophet single him out. But Scripture never says Eliab understood why David was anointed or what it meant. He saw it happen but still refused to acknowledge what God was doing in David. He STILL doesn’t see David correctly.

This shows that sometimes even the people closest to us misinterpret our zeal.

But David did NOT let it trip him up or affect the call on his life. He simply turned and walked away and proceeded to follow the prompting to be involved with this giant that was blaspheming his God.

1 Samuel 17:
28 – And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thy heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
29 – And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
30 – And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner."
