Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. I may ...

When God Warns Before the Shaking

Have you ever noticed how God doesn’t just deal with people? He deals with systems...
whole kingdoms, empires, reputations, and power structures that thought they could stand forever.

And.....have you ALSO noticed that He’ll flip them upside down if He needs to?

Look at Isaiah chapters 13-16. It’s like God is saying, “I’m not JUST Lord of Israel. I’m Lord over everything......and that means no nation, no leader, no loud mouth, and no proud heart is untouchable.”

Babylon was big, shiny and unstoppable. Everyone bowed and feared her. But pride is a slow-acting poison, it builds you up just long enough to set you up for a crash.

And in chapter 13, it talks about that crash in wild detail and says the sun goes dark, stars stop shining and there is chaos everywhere.

Yeah, it's pretty dramatic, but it’s meant to show that God will ALWAYS confront arrogance.
He doesn’t owe anyone a warning, but He gives one anyway.....because mercy always shows up before judgment.

Real talk?
Sometimes He’ll shake your personal “Babylon.”
You know....that thing you’ve built on self-strength or image? Yeah, that one!
If it’s taking His place, He’ll bring it down until you remember Who really rules.

God doesn’t just deal with the empire, He deals with the ego behind it.

Isaiah 14 is one giant “how the mighty have fallen” moment. The king who thought he was invincible? He’s brought down so low the earth itself sighs in relief!

The whole earth is at rest and quiet; they break forth into singing. (v7)

Even the trees are celebrating! Can you imagine?!  Creation is rejoicing because the bully finally got dethroned!

Pride ALWAYS has an expiration date!

So maybe the lesson for us isn’t to look at who fell, but to ask, “What in me still wants the throne?”

Onto Chapter 15....now the tone shifts. Moab is getting wrecked too, but Isaiah isn’t cheering this time. He’s crying.

“My heart shall cry out for Moab,” he says.

THAT'S the kind of compassion God has!

Even when judgment is deserved, God’s heart still breaks over broken people.

He doesn’t delight in destruction. He grieves what sin costs.

And THAT should check us too!

For some, it’s easy to clap when “they finally get what’s coming.”

But the prophet Isaiah reminds us that if our hearts don’t break for the lost,
we’ve missed the heartbeat of Heaven.

Chapter 16 keeps that Moab storyline going. Kiind of like God saying, “If you’d just humble yourself, there’s STILL a chance!”

Check out this quiet prophecy.....

In mercy shall the throne be established… and One shall sit upon it in truth. (v5)

That’s a sneak peek of Jesus right in the middle of a mess! While Moab’s pride was still hot, God was already whispering about mercy, truth, and a faithful King!

Even in judgment, He’s planning redemption!

That’s our God. He doesn’t leave rubble without hope.

God still shakes what people think can’t be shaken! But don’t panic when He does.....it means He’s rearranging power back under His authority.

Pride is a terrible architect!
It builds kingdoms on sand and calls them castles.

Compassion matters. If Isaiah can cry for a nation under judgment, we can certainly pray for the people who’ve lost their way!

Jesus is ALWAYS the ending. EVEN in the middle of correction, the promise of a faithful throne remains!

Sometimes we get so focused on who’s being judged that we forget why.

These chapters aren’t just about ancient geography, they’re about the posture of the heart.

EVERY Babylon still falls!
EVERY proud ruler still bows!
EVERY humble soul still finds mercy in the shadow of the true King!
