Most of us can admit that we’ve tested God’s patience before, right?.
Maybe we’ve wandered when we should’ve stayed close, doubted when He’d already proven Himself faithful, or even hesitated to obey when His instruction was clear.
And yet......He still loves us.
That’s the kind of God we serve.
Patient beyond understanding.
2 Peter 3:9 says,
as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
His patience isn’t weakness....it’s a love that keeps reaching.
He waits, not because He’s indecisive, but because He’s giving us room to respond.
He’s giving hearts a chance to soften.
He’s giving prodigals a chance to come home.
We live in a world that rushes everything.....quick to anger, quick to judge, quick to quit.
But God’s not like that.
He is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (Psalm 103:8).
When we fall, He doesn’t throw us away.
When we fail, He doesn’t forsake us.
When we fail, He waits.......patiently......with open arms.
His patience is proof of His love.
And if we’re truly His children, that same patience should begin to grow in us.
So maybe today, before we respond in frustration…
Before we give up on someone…
Before we assume God’s done working in a situation…
Let’s remember His patience toward us and extend that same grace to others.
Because the patience of God isn’t just something to admire.....It’s something to reflect.
And when we stop long enough to realize just how patient He’s been with us… it should humbles us.
Every failure He's forgiven.
Every time He's waited instead of walking away.
Every moment He could have said, “I'm done here” but instead whispered, “I still love you.”
That kind of patience should draw worship out of the deepest parts of us, breaking pride, melting the hardness of a heart.
It really should leave us undone before a holy and merciful God.
We should lift our hands to Him...not because we have it all together, but because He’s been so patient while putting us back together.
Let your worship this morning say what words can't even beging to measure....
Thank you, Lord, for not giving up on me. thank you for waiting, thank you for loving me through the in-between.
Because when we truly see the beauty of His longsuffering, adoration is the only fitting response.
