Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. A Leaky Roof and a Lazy Spirit

By much slothfulness the building decayeth;
and through idleness of the hands
the house droppeth through. - Ecclesiasties 10:18

A house doesn’t fall apart overnight. It’s never just one day of neglect that causes a roof to sag or a floorboard to rot. It’s the little things we keep saying we’ll get to later. You know, those tiny leaks we ignore, the cracks we pretend we don’t see, the squeaky hinge, the drafty window, or the pile of laundry that we’ll “fold tomorrow.”

Spiritually, we’re actually the same way. Our hearts are a lot like houses. They're beautiful when cared for, but fragile when ignored. When we get spiritually lazy (too tired to pray, too distracted to worship, too busy to read the Word) the foundation of our faith starts to weaken.

Not all at once.

Just… slowly.

Quietly.

And......before we know it, discouragement seeps in like rain through a leaky roof.

Solomon isn’t just talking about laziness in chores here......he’s warning about spiritual neglect.

Things like:

Putting off prayer until we’re “in the right headspace.”

Skipping fellowship because we’re “just not feeling it.”

Ignoring conviction because “God knows my heart.”

But the truth is...that EVERY bit of spiritual idleness lets something valuable decay.

Our peace.

Our clarity.

Our connection to God.

Just like a house, your heart needs maintenance.

Don't worry, you don’t have to renovate everything at one time.

Just fix one small leak today. Open your Bible. Whisper a prayer. Turn on worship instead of worry.

You’re going to be amazed at how quickly light returns when you start patching the cracks!

What’s one “room” in your life that’s been neglected lately?
Is it your prayer closet? Your joy? Your gratitude?
Ask the Lord to show you where the roof’s sagging.......and let Him help you repair it.
