Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. Proverbs 9 - The Table Is Set

Proverbs 9 is like someone putting two invitations in front of you and saying, “Which one are you going to accept?”

On one side, there’s Wisdom. She’s intentional. She’s built her house, set the table, prepared the food, and everything is ready. She’s not calling from some hidden place, she’s out in the open, inviting anyone who’s willing “Come and eat. Leave behind your simple ways and live.” There’s such care in that. Such a picture of God’s heart!

But then.....there’s the other side. Folly. She’s loud too, but her house is empty. She makes herself sound appealing, but her promises are shallow. And the truth is, her road leads straight to death.

That’s something to pay attention to.... BOTH voices are calling. Neither of them is quiet.

Wisdom and Folly are competing for our attention every single day.

Sometimes wisdom sounds steady and solid, other times folly sounds easy and fun. From a distance, they can even look similar. But up close, the difference couldn’t be more drastic......one brings life, the other takes it.

This isn’t just about one big moment where we choose wisdom forever. It’s the daily choices. What we say yes to. What we allow into our thoughts. The voices we give influence to. Every decision is leaning toward one invitation or the other.

The encouragement, though, is this.....God’s wisdom isn’t hidden. It’s not locked away for the super-spiritual.

He’s already prepared it, already set the table,
already extended the invite.
All I have to do is choose to walk in and sit down.

Proverbs 9 reminds me that life is shaped by which voice I answer. And I DON'T want to let the loud, shallow noise pull me away from the steady, life-giving call that leads to real life.
