Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. Proverbs 31 - Wisdom's Final Word

We’ve made it!

The end of Proverbs!

Thirty-one chapters of wisdom, correction, laughter, and conviction. I wish I could say I wrote faithfully on every single day like I had planned… but life happened. Still, here we are. We walked through every chapter together. And even if some days were delayed, we stopped often enough to take in the sights, to look around, and to notice the treasures tucked inside.

We finished the walk.....and that’s worth celebrating!

Chapter 31!

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. (v8-9)

Before we ever get to the famous “virtuous woman” passage, Proverbs 31 calls us to compassion and courage. We’re reminded to speak up for those who cannot defend themselves, to use our voice for justice, to carry God’s heart for the vulnerable. Wisdom is never selfish....it always looks outward.  After all, how can one be virtuous without those things?

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. (v10)

The “Proverbs 31 woman” has been both celebrated and misunderstood. She’s not a checklist of perfection, but a portrait of a life shaped by wisdom, integrity, and strength. Her worth doesn’t come from what she accomplishes, but from who she is in God.

Strength and honour are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice in time to come. (v25)

What a picture!  What a goal! Not dressed in fine fabrics or dripping in gold, but clothed in strength and honor. That’s what wisdom does!  It wraps us in qualities that time can’t wear out. Did you notice the promises? She shall rejoice in time to come. A wise life may look ordinary in the moment, but its fruit is lasting joy.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
she shall be praised. (v30)

This is the crown jewel! Charm fades, beauty doesn’t last, but the fear of the Lord.....the awe-filled, reverent relationship with Him....now THAT'S what shines brightest. It’s what anchors a woman’s life, and what earns her the praise of generations.

Final Thought:
The book of Proverbs began with “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” And it ends with this: a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised. What a bookend! What a journey!

We’ve walked through the entire book of Proverbs, chapter by chapter. Not perfectly. Not on schedule. But we finished.....and that’s what matters! Along the way, we’ve seen wisdom call out to us, warn us, guide us, and remind us that our steps are safest when ordered by God.

And now? The journey doesn’t end here. I’ve been sensing the pull to dive into Ecclesiastes next and not because it’s the very next book in the Bible, but because I've been feeling like God is calling me to feast on it. Proverbs has taught us how to live wisely.

Ecclesiastes will remind us why it matters at all.

Are you going to join me?  I may not write about it every day, but I'm definitely going to partake of it each day and let it soak into my pores.

Let's go, friends!

Another adventure about to begin!
