Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. Proverbs 25 - Wisdom Woven into Everyday Life

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. (v11)

Isn’t that beautiful? The right word at the right time, is priceless. I'm sure you can remember a time where a single word of encouragement changed your whole day. How about that time when one careless comment ruined it? Words matter, don't they? This verse reminds us that wisdom isn’t just knowing what to say, it's knowing WHEN to say it.

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat;
and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head,
and the Lord shall reward thee. (v21-22)

Our flesh wants to get even, doesn't it?  Wisdom tells us to respond with kindness. It actually softens our hearts when we do....And it has the potential to break down the hardness in someone else’s. Have you ever considered that? It’s not about revenge...it’s about leaving room for God to work.

He that hath no rule over his own spirit
is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. (v28)

The walls in an ancient city were everything. They weren’t just decoration, they were protection, right? Without walls, the city was vulnerable to attack, looting, or being overtaken by anything that came its way.

Self-control is like those walls. Without self-control, we’re vulnerable. But when we let the Lord strengthen us, He becomes our wall of protection.

Wisdom shows up in everyday. It’s in the words we choose, the way we treat friends and strangers, and in keeping our own hearts steady. If we’re faithful in the small things, God builds a life of strength that can stand in the big ones.
