Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. Proverbs 22 - Building a Life That Lasts

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,
and loving favour rather than silver and gold. (v1)

Our reputation, our character, the way people know us....THOSE things carry more value than any bank account or flashy lifestyle ever could. Money comes and goes, but who we are and how we treat people? That sticks!

This chapter has more practical wisdom for everyday life. It talks about humility, training children, and even warns against laziness and dishonesty. And those sticky notes.....live with integrity, be generous, don’t take shortcuts, and don’t get tangled up with angry people.

There's a lot of foundation here too!  The fear of the Lord (v4), training children (v6), being diligent (v29) ...... these aren’t just passing tips, they’re seeds we plant that grow into the kind of life God blesses.

It reminds me that the little choices matter. The way I speak, the people I connect with, how I handle my resources.....ALL of it builds either a name worth honoring or a story people will want to forget.

And at the end of the day.....a good name really DOES outweigh silver and gold.
