My heart has felt so heavy these past days thinking about Charlie Kirk. He’s been on my mind almost constantly, tucked into the corners of my everyday thoughts. I never met him or sat in one of his events, but I did listen in from time to time.....and his words always lingered with me. His passing has deeply saddened so many.....even those who didn’t agree with him. That says a lot about the kind of man he was. He stood firm in Biblical truth, and he did it with boldness that challenged people to stop and think.
But here’s the part that always stood out to me: he loved to listen. Charlie enjoyed a good debate, not because he wanted to shout down the other person, but because he wanted to understand them.
He’d lean in, hear their story, and then respond with wisdom that came from a heart rooted in Scripture. That’s what made his words hit differently - he cared enough to hear before he spoke.
And he respected the person in front of him,
even if their views were the complete opposite of his.
Isn’t it something how prophetic the name of his organization turned out to be?
Turning Point.
That’s exactly what his life has been for so many people - a turning point. His boldness and faith pushed countless hearts to pay attention, to stand firm, and to consider what really matters most.
And that’s where the ache meets the urgency. We MUST be about our Father’s Kingdom. Time is too short, and the Gospel is too precious to keep to ourselves. If Charlie’s life teaches us anything, it’s this - speak the truth, love people deeply, and don’t waste your days.
Every single soul
- whether they agree with us or not -
is valuable in the eyes of God,
and deserves the respect
and kindness we ourselves hope to receive.
And here’s the thing: people who know you (especially those who don’t share your views) should be able to see this belief lived out in you. If the ones who’ve butted heads with you on certain topics can still say, ‘I may not agree with them, but I know for sure they won’t dismiss me, they won’t disrespect me, and I know they love me’......then you’re walking in the truth of what you believe.
So yes, we grieve. But we also give thanks - for a life lived with conviction, for an example that points us back to Jesus, and for the reminder that we have work to do. Let’s carry it forward: boldly, lovingly, and always with eternity in mind.
