Repurposing

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.                    - Isaiah 43:18-19  Whew!  It's been a journey!  While I am glad to be this far into it, I am saddened that not everything that the Lord has done was documented.  HOWEVER, I will share as He brings it to my remembrance.    I will be using this to post my studies that I share twice a month in church and also to share my personal studies as they arise and the Lord leads me to share them.   The grief and healing journey I have been on since my son passed from suicide is more of an in-person ministry right now as it is a raw and sensitive situation.  I am very protective over my son and his sisters and have an obligation to protect their privacy. More Than Pages Could Hold

Have you ever really thought about John 21:25?

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

That’s one of those verses we tend to read quickly and move on, BUT.... if you pause, it’s absolutely overwhelming. So, John is basically saying, “What I’ve written is just the tip of the iceberg.” Can you imagine?! After all the miracles we’ve read about...the blind seeing, the lame walking, the dead raised, storms calmed....John says, “Oh, that’s not even close to everything!”

I’ve actually heard people say things like, “Well, the only people alive back then were the ones mentioned in the Bible.” I can’t help but giggle a little. The Bible doesn’t record every person, every conversation, every miracle, or every act of compassion Jesus did. It’s not meant to be an exhaustive diary....it’s the Spirit-inspired record of what we need to know that will help us to believe. Just think of the thousands of lives touched that we’ll never read about until eternity.

John says if it were all written down,
the world couldn’t hold the books.
That blows my mind!!!

And honestly, that just puts me in my place. Because sometimes we treat the Bible like it’s a box that contains God in His fullness.....as if we’ve figured Him out. But the truth is, we’ve only been given a glimpse! Just enough to see His heart, just enough to know His power, just enough to believe and follow Him. But not nearly enough to exhaust who He is. That means there’s always more to discover, more to experience, more to worship Him for!

At the same time, this verse reminds me that Jesus’ story didn’t stop at the end of John’s Gospel. His Spirit is still writing it today.....through changed lives, answered prayers, healings, forgiveness, freedom, and salvation. Your testimony, my testimony, the way He moves in our everyday lives.....THOSE are part of the never-ending story that the world itself couldn’t contain.

Heaven is holding pages of His works that we haven’t even glimpsed yet!

And one day, when we’re finally home with Him, we’ll get to hear the rest. We’ll learn about the quiet miracles, the unseen mercies, the whispered prayers answered in ways no one noticed. Then we’ll understand why John said the whole world couldn’t hold the record of it all.

Until then, we live in awe of what we do know....and in anticipation of what we’ll one day discover.

Because if He could do more than the world could contain in just those short years of earthly ministry, can you imagine what He’s still doing right now!?
