Don't Settle For a Knockoff
The other day, Justin and I ran into Mills Fleet Farm for some dog food. He pointed out a $450 Yeti cooler. $450 for a COOLER. Can you imagine? I rolled my eyes and said "you're really just paying for the name, it's a Yeti."
You ever notice how we’ll pay more - sometimes way more - just for the brand name? Not this cooler, of course, but how about other stuff?
You walk into a store. You’ll see a bottle of pain reliever: one says “acetaminophen,” the other says “Tylenol.” Same ingredients. One’s five dollars, the other is close to ten. Why?
The name.
Cereal: one box says “Toasty O’s,” the other says “Cheerios.” They taste almost the same, but the brand name gives it more weight, more reliability, and recognition. We’re drawn to it.
Because deep down, we know - names matter.
In this world, people trust in all kinds of "brand names" to fix their lives. But there’s only one name that truly heals. One name that truly saves, and one name with power above every other name.
Jesus.
Philippians 2:9–10 says, God has given Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
The name that demons flee from.
The name that storms obey.
The name that death couldn’t hold.
Only one name carries the full weight of heaven.
Only one name makes hell tremble.
Only one name causes knees to bow and hearts to change.
That name is Jesus.
So don’t leave it on the shelf. Don’t reach for some cheap imitation.
I don’t know what name you’ve been leaning on lately -
but I know the name that’s never failed me.
The name that carried me when I couldn’t walk,
the name that showed up when nothing else did.
Jesus is more than a name. He is the answer. He is the anchor. He is the King.
You’ve got access to the real - so don’t settle for less.
Let’s lift Him up. Let’s honor Him. Let’s worship Jesus.
