When God Wrote You In

I thought love was lost on that long, winding road.
When time built the silence and distance had grown.
But still, in the quiet, one heartbeat remained
The echo of you, still calling my name.

A cowboy with kindness stitched into his soul,
You rode into my life and made broken things whole.
With hands rough from labor, yet gentle with grace,
You held all the pieces time couldn't replace.

You stepped in and stood tall through storms I had known,
Raising my children as fully your own.
You carried their heartaches, their joy, and their fears,
And earned every “Dad” with sweat, love, and years.

Two more you gave me...our laughter, our light,
And five little grands who make everything right.
You're their Papa, their hero, their wrestling match,
Their storybook cowboy in boots and a hat.

But still, it’s with me where you shine the most
In every long hug, every whisper, every post.
You love without limits, give all you can give,
And teach us by showing us just how to live.

So tonight as I thank God for all that we've been,
I smile - He was good when He wrote you in.
You weren’t just the ending, or start of the line -
You were the home I was praying to find.
